Toyota to sell fuel-cell cars at about $70,000
[31st Jul, 2014]

Toyota officials want to take the lead in the market for eco-friendly vehicles. They plan to start selling fuel-cell cars at about 70-thousand dollars each by next March.

Fuel-cell cars run on electricity produced by the chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen. That means they do not produce carbon dioxide.

Toyota started leasing such cars 12 years ago for about 12-thousand dollars a month. But so far, only a few customers like government offices have been using the service due to the high cost.

Toyota reduced the number of expensive parts that go into the cars to make them more affordable while maintaining quality. It has also prepared for mass production.
